Taking to YouTube, Nintendo released the first trailer for the upcoming NES Classic Edition. Chock-full of classic 80s vibes, the footage does a good job at introducing the system in a way that is sure to appeal to longtime gamers and newcomers to the medium alike. Indeed, it’s a nostalgic look at what could very well be one of the purest nods to the company’s past, and it’s something that should not be missed by those that have fond memories of the original Nintendo Entertainment System.

Nintendo has previously confirmed that its revamped NES will arrive for a rather modest $59.99 USD ($79.99 CAD) this November 11, with additional controllers available to be purchased for $9.99 USD ($12.99 CAD). Considering the cost, the system truly seems like a no-brainer for both nostalgia junkies and followers of the Big N, and there’s little question that it’ll become a popular item this Holiday season.
Even then, it’s a bit disheartening to learn that Nintendo won’t be adding any more games to the NES Classic Edition and its existing 30-game library. While classic titles like The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros., and more are available, the lack of an option to purchase favorites like Duck Hunt, for example, seem more like a missed opportunity. With that said, Nintendo’s value has now surpassed Sony’s in the wake of Pokemon GO’s success, and selling the platform as a one-off likely makes the most sense if the firm plans on heavily pushing its brand new NX console in the near future.
NES Classic Edition is set to arrive on November 11, 2016.
